The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has fixed the dates for the 41st and 42nd BCS preliminary examinations. The date was fixed at a meeting of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission on Wednesday.
A member who was present at the meeting told Prothom Alo that the dates of the 41st and 42nd BCS preliminary examinations have been fixed for today’s meeting. The 41st BCS preliminary examination will be held on March 19 this year. The 42nd BCS preliminary examination will be held on February 27.
The test will be held simultaneously in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh on Friday, March 19 from 10 am to 12 noon. Preliminary examination of 41st BCS will be held. The 42nd BCS preliminary examination will also be held from 3 pm to 5 pm.
The seats and details of the two BCS exams will be announced on the PSC website later.
41st BCS preliminary examinations
4 lakh 75 thousand people applied for the 41st BCS. 2,017 people will be appointed in this BCS.
More than 31,000 applications have been submitted for the special 42nd BCS for doctors. The BCS application started on December 6 last year and ended on the evening of December 26. 2,000 people will be appointed as assistant surgeons in the 42nd BCS.
The 42nd BCS (Special) MCQ type written test of the 42nd Special BCS may be held next February, the notification said. The exact date and time will be published on the Commission’s website and in the media in due course. PSC announced that date on Wednesday.
Distribution of 42nd BCS examination number
The PSC said in a notification that the examination for the 42nd special BCS will be of 300 marks. Of these, 200 will be preliminary examination (MCQ type). And 100 marks will be the oral test. Candidates will get two hours for the 200 number test. The preliminary examination will be on Medical Science (100), Bengali (20), English (20), Bangladesh Affairs (20), International Affairs (20), Mental Skills (10) and Mathematical Reasoning (10). Candidate will get 1 number for each correct answer in the test. However, in case of wrong answer, decimal 50 marks will be deducted from the total number obtained for each wrong answer.
